Use CMD to check system status and troubleshoot the black screen issue.
Hey there, I'm dealing with the same situation. When I power on my system and enter the password, I get a black screen with the command prompt on it (System 32). Someone suggested typing "explorer.exe e" to bring back the desktop, which worked temporarily. Now every boot causes this issue, and I have to manually type commands to access the desktop. I tried using the sfc/scannow tool in Command Prompt, but it didn't resolve anything. I was thinking about restoring my system to a safe state, but I couldn't do that because I didn’t enable the backup feature. I don’t want to reinstall Windows since I can keep my personal files, but all the apps and games I installed would be lost. I have many apps and games, and I don’t want to waste time reinstalling them. They were installed on different drives, while the OS (Windows 10) is on my SSD. Anyone else had this problem? Do you have any advice or solutions?
You won't lose any files or programs. If there are apps running, choose the most recent one that's lower than your current version. Everything should function properly again. Just return to the time before the black screen occurred.
No, your apps will not be deleted unless you explicitly remove them.
Consider your boot/startup options in msconfig. Verify they aren't configured to start in safe mode via CMD. That could explain the unusual behavior. When the system initializes, does it display a CMD window or appear as a full black screen? I'm still relying on msconfig for this check.
I'll look it over... it seems like a black screen with a tiny CMD window.
