Hello everyone. I'm asking about using acetone on my GPU and CPU dies to remove a liquid metal stain. I've been using thermal paste for more than a year now and have pictures of the dies. Thanks for your advice!

I wouldn't use acetone, as it melts plastics and the leftover material doesn't impact performance

Not every plastic is suitable; ABS and PC are often used in laptops. I wouldn't use acetone either.

If the residue is just a minor cosmetic issue, I remember GN suggesting using the strongest isopropyl alcohol available and plenty of scrubbing with a microfiber cloth might not be entirely accurate—though it probably won’t cause any harm.
