while looking for files and apps, Windows seems to respond well. however, simple tasks like calculations or currency conversions trigger a "search the web" option instead of showing a calculator or exchange graph. I've explored fixes for improving search functionality, but nothing has resolved this issue consistently. no one else mentioned it publicly.

Access the open windows configuration, navigate to the search bar, tap on the history section and select the classic option followed by enhanced.

It's already set to enhanced mode, but I've been using it constantly. It's been this way for a while now, and lately I'm finding it hard to take the time to really interact with it.

The Windows Instant Search Calculator is linked to Cortana. It's unclear if Cortana is turned off on your device, but since you're using Classic and it functions, the issue might be elsewhere.

Cortana is active, and even when I tried to input currency conversions, the browser still opened. Someone from Microsoft suggested changing the region settings and restarting, which resolved the issue. Odd that it worked despite being in a different area. Updated May 29, 2020 by EYT.
