I'm based in the UK but am currently in Spain. I got hacked a few weeks ago and my location is stuck there now. Support told me I need to log in from the UK first. I was considering using a VPN to switch my region back to the UK temporarily. Since I can't make purchases with a UK address, what should I do?

I attempted to switch my region, but I wasn’t planning to make a purchase at the moment. It seems the VPN might not have worked either.

Using tools to alter your Steam location violates the terms of service, and I wouldn't want your account locked permanently.

I believed it depended solely on the purchase.

It makes sense now... I’m always using the VPN and it works perfectly. Probably just for buying things.

I think it's only for purchases if you try to get a lower price by changing the region. I logged to steam from various VPN servers/countries lots of times and no problems at all, but always turn it off before buying anything. Here's a discussion on the same issue.

I arranged for my friend to sign up in the UK on my behalf. It worked, though it cost more since it’s priced in pounds rather than euros. At least my account is back in pounds, so I can make purchases.
