Windows isn’t starting after a restart. Installation stopped because the connection to Autodesk was lost. You tried several times but kept failing. Your computer froze and audio stopped working at some point. After that, it locked up for a long time before you gave up on 3DS Max. Now you want to recover your files before reinstalling Windows.

I enjoy connecting my drive from another PC as an additional storage option and moving my files there. If you don’t have another machine, consider asking a friend for assistance; otherwise, someone else might need suggestions since I’m at my limit right now.

You can utilize a different machine with a SATA to USB connection to transfer files between computers.

I attempted it earlier and it worked. The issue is, why weren't you saving the progress?

Use an external storage device or a large USB stick to run Linux. The machine will start and you’ll be able to restore your files (Linux can read your Windows hard drive without booting it up to recover the files) and probably the infected software won’t interfere with the Linux setup on the thumb drive. I often keep a Linux Mint flash drive ready for recovery purposes.
