I have an Intel® Core™ i5-4570 processor running at 3.20 GHz. My motherboard is even more outdated, originally built for an HP Pavilion. I’m planning an upgrade and already have a Lain Li Lan2mpx case and a Seasonic 850 gold power supply ready to go. Right now I just need a CPU and a compatible motherboard. I know options are available, but I’m not sure which would work best with my current GPU.

Almost everything can power up your GPU. Right now, components are costly, so I’d opt for an Intel option. Maybe a 6-core 11400F with a mid-range build—it won’t break the bank and will perform much better than your current setup.

The 10 series 6-8core offers a more affordable option while staying near the price of the 11 series. Its memory support is significantly improved over previous generations. Honestly, any modern chip with multiple cores works well here.
