Hey everyone, I have a budget of 150 USD and instead of purchasing a case, I chose to create one myself. To do this, I’ll need a program to design the case and send the design to the company that will cut the plexi panels. I also require a way to save a "Vector" file or something similar, as that’s what he asked for. I’m not sure what a Vector file is yet, but I just need a tool to handle it. Thanks!

sketchup, cad, blender, your mind, a sheet of paper and a pen. I understand what a vector file is, but I’m unsure about its role in custom cutting plexi.

Thanks, but a single sheet of paper wouldn’t suffice. As mentioned, the person needs a Vector file including dimensions and a 2D image so the parts appear correct. I’ll check the first three files.

Blender is open-source and impressive. I use it regularly and find it very satisfying. The vector file holds all the vertices, lines, curves, faces along with their materials, etc. By default, Blender stores these as .blend files—this should be fine, but always confirm first. For images, just render your scene directly. Although Blender isn’t built for this kind of work, it’s capable and offers much more. You can create objects, edit visuals, produce artistic renders, film clips, achieve realistic results, or go freeform for cartoon effects—there’s a wide range of possibilities. Blender is a versatile tool. If you only need to sketch a case, SketchUp would also suffice.
