USB ports on my Lenovo Legion 5 2021 often lose connection and reconnect repeatedly
Hello Everyone, This message may be a bit lengthy, but I’m reaching out for any assistance you can provide. My USB devices frequently disconnect and reconnect on the back side of my Lenovo Legion 5 laptop. The issue seems to appear consistently when using either a USB hub (such as the one from QZ or the ext powered hub) or a USB switcher (like the Ugreen model). It only happens with the ports on the back, while the USB-C port for the secondary monitor functions properly. The right-side port is mostly unaffected, but during these episodes, it sometimes joins the backside ports and the left USB-C port remains stable. Even without any hubs or switches, this behavior occurs randomly, causing repeated disconnections before things stabilize. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, adjusted the sleep mode in Device Manager, but nothing has helped. I had the laptop serviced last week on Monday, and the technician confirmed no issues arose during observation over five days. When I returned it home at midnight, the problem started again and continues randomly now. Before considering a motherboard replacement, do you have any suggestions to resolve this? I’ve attached video recordings of the issue for reference.
It seems they might have used your power brick to connect your laptop, even though the issue didn’t happen at the repair center. If this points to a power supply problem and their unit wasn’t involved, it could be a failing power brick affecting USB stability due to voltage issues. Alternatively, the USB controller might be faulty. You may want to check if too many devices are connected to the USB ports at once, including hubs. Let me know if you need more clarity!
The problem appears in the second video where the charger isn't connected yet the issue persists. Meanwhile, the USB-C port on the back that I use as a display still functions even when this happens, but all other backside ports begin to fail. The side ports seem to be unaffected by this situation.
