USB ports not working
USB ports not working
Help needed, my keyboard and mouse are on the back side of the motherboard and they keep losing power in the middle of work. This started from the afternoon only. I've attached two videos for reference. Here are my specs: motherboard H61, CPU i5-3570, GPU RTX 2060, 2x 4GB RAM, 550W Bronze+ CM PSU with 2 x SSD and 2 x HDD, RGB keyboard and mouse, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi adapter, case fans (3 x ARGB, 1 x non-RGB), monitor Acer 22 inch IPS.
PSU: 550W Bronze+ CM
550W represents the rated power while bronze+ indicates the 80+ efficiency. What is the model and age of this device?
Motherboard: H61
H61 refers to the chipset; could you provide the specific model details? Also, what BIOS version applies to this board?
Is the problem affecting other devices besides the keyboard and mouse?
PSU: Cooler Master MWE 550 Bronze V2 Power Supply, only three years old (believed this was the cause, so I performed a stability test for 22 minutes with all components at full load, and everything functioned properly without any crashes).
Motherboard H61: Zebronics H61, basic motherboard, all updates completed (I think this is what was responsible, because if there were any software or application issues, the keyboard and mouse should reconnect only when I’m logged in to the PC, not just during BIOS startup. I experienced some problems with my UPS which resulted in frequent PC crashes—no proper shutdown. I suspect it might have affected the USB ports, but another odd point is that the Bluetooth works fine while the Wi-Fi adapter is very slow).
Today is much worse than when I first posted this issue; the mouse and keyboard keep disconnecting every few seconds.
Please help!!!!
My keyboard and mouse frequently disconnect and reconnect at random intervals, sometimes every few seconds or minutes. I've tested all available ports—front and back—but none work. The device becomes completely unusable, with no light on the mouse. I have to switch to a different port for it to function again, but the problem persists.
I assumed my power supply unit was faulty, so I performed a stability test lasting 25 minutes with the GPU, CPU, and storage at full load. No crashes occurred during the test.
However, I suspect the motherboard might be the issue. If there were any software or application bugs causing the keyboard and mouse to reconnect, it should happen only when logged into the PC, not just during BIOS startup. Recently, I experienced problems with my UPS, which led to frequent PC crashes (no proper shutdown). After replacing the UPS with a higher capacity one, the crash issue was resolved. I think these repeated crashes might have affected the USB ports, though another unusual occurrence is that the Bluetooth works well but the Wi-Fi adapter is extremely slow or doesn’t connect at all.
