This approach seems viable. I’d still require a discreet USB 3.0 extension cable, allowing direct connection of the USB 3.0 port and using USB 3 to 2 adapters for any remaining USB 2.0 devices.

Yes, that could also be effective. The image I saw appeared quite imposing despite being 90% accurate.

I bought that, but now connecting it to the MB causes a boot failure. I see the code 00 during startup and there’s no post. Removing it resolves the problem. Any suggestions?

You linked the MB header to the "INPUT" and then powered it on. It operates independently of any hub connection.

The USB 3.1 Gen 1 / USB 3.0 pin layout is as follows: The two vertical rows correspond to each USB 2 port or device. For USB 3, the connector side shifts one position, ensuring proper orientation when inserted. USB 3 supports backward compatibility with USB 2.0; the four wires in USB 2 are retained in the USB 3 header. To adapt your setup, select a 9-pin or 10-pin housing and use a needle to lift each pin from your existing connector and fit them into your custom housing. The connections follow this pattern: +5V connects to Vbus GND (typically near P#_D), P#+ to P#_D+, P#- to P#_D-, while the SSTX and SSRX pins remain unused—they handle high-speed signals (up to 5Gbps) not used by USB 2 devices.

Discovered I don’t require the power connector to the hub anymore—just a direct USB cable. Some ports seem less secure, and the adapter from USB3.0 to USB 2.0 isn’t performing well, but everything functions now. The only problem is that Device Manager labels it as an unknown device even though it works fine! Thanks for the helpful tip—I needed a fast solution, and this worked perfectly!
