I’m uncertain about what to attempt next with this system, given its recent setup and the lack of significant problems before now. Several complications have emerged recently. Over the past few months, the machine has stopped responding after entering sleep mode. Initially I dismissed it as a minor annoyance, but it’s now tied to other concerns. I tried restarting by pressing the power button, and everything returned to normal. However, about a week ago the computer went back to sleep and became unresponsive again, accompanied by a loud fan noise—similar to a bearing under heavy stress. After rebooting, the fan resumed its usual sound. Periodically it returns, but lowering the fan speed seems to prevent further issues.

Another problem involves USB devices. When the PC is in sleep mode, none of the connected peripherals light up, which I hadn’t noticed before. Recently, these devices have started disconnecting unexpectedly while I’m using the machine, and they only reconnect after a reboot.

Internet connectivity has also become inconsistent. It’s been unreliable since I built the system. Updating the BIOS last spring helped temporarily, but now the connection is again unstable. Occasionally I can stream or play games without trouble, yet latency spikes over 5000 ms are common when idle—especially during Discord sessions. Random disconnections from games and videos add to the frustration.

I recently updated the BIOS again, hoping this would fix things. Now the issues persist, though they’re less frequent. A few months ago, while moving the PC, I accidentally pressed the BIOS flash button on the motherboard during operation. This incident likely contributed to the current instability, though it seems some problems existed prior.

In summary, my concerns now center around sleep mode behavior, fan noise under load, USB port issues, and erratic internet performance. Any advice on resolving these would be invaluable.

If your motherboard remains covered by warranty, consider obtaining a new one.

Have you checked if the BIOS is up to date? Problems with 13th and 14th generation CPUs have been resolved in recent BIOS releases, but if you haven’t updated since last spring, those fixes might be missing.

I understood the performance problems and thought the BIOS version before the latest release I installed was from September 2024. I assumed it should have resolved the matter. However, my earlier statement about the most recent update being last spring was wrong—it was actually this past fall.

You're facing the same problems again, and they seem to be happening more often. It's unclear if anyone offers helpful guidance.
