Hello everyone, I have recently built a new PC and i'm having issues with devices disconecting and reconnecting randomly. I have no idea what could be causing it. I have many devices connected, some of which are connected through unpowered hubs but they’re kind of spread out on different hubs so it doesn’t draw too much power from one port. I had the same setup with my old PC and never had any issues. I found no errors or warnings related to this issue in windows event viewer. I will attach some videos that show the kind of behavior that's happening with this issue. System specs: Ryzen 7 7800X3D Asus Tuf Gaming X670E-Plus Motherboard 2x32gb Corsair vengance 6400 Mhz RAM A wifi & bluetooth card (unsure which brand it's old) 1000W PSU Latest BIOS from Asus's website (BIOS 1813) What i have tried: Updating chipset drivers Another fresh windows installation with latest drivers from manufacturer I have tested with another 700W PSU but wasn’t able to connect the GPU due to not enough connectors to power it, so i have ran two tests on both PSUs without the GPU but still got the same issue. I have tried plugging in only my mouse, keyboard and headset and recorded the behavior overnight and it all went well. I just tried to add one more device which is kind of an external hub for HDDs, and it started acting strangely like disconnecting and reconnecting, I changed the port and it worked. The entire last row of USBs on the back of the motherboard created this issue with the external HDDs hub, I have connected other devices on the last row of USBs on the motherboard to see if anything happens, so far so good. You can likely eliminate the PSU and GPU as the source of the problem. That’s a solid initial move. The USB controllers function properly now. Great progress. The issue appears only when connecting your hub to the lower ports of the motherboard. This suggests those ports are linked to a controller with different specifications than the others. I suspect the lower ports might not provide sufficient current for your hub, whereas the other ports can handle it. Generally, USB 2 ports deliver up to 500mA, while USB 3.0 can supply 900mA or more depending on the version. Since HDD hubs often need higher power, it makes sense that the USB 2 ports could overload and disconnect to prevent damage. Does your HDD hub include an external power adapter? That device might be necessary for ports that draw less current. As a solution, consider using the high-current ports whenever possible. Best of luck!
Your setup seems to have external power connections, which suggests the problem isn't related to port power. I've taken it offline temporarily to investigate further. Your keyboard disconnects and reconnects, which could indicate an issue with the chipset drivers. After updating them, it still doesn't work properly. I've tried several older driver versions, but none function correctly. It might be a driver-related problem.

we've encountered similar issues with Asus Tuf Gaming X570's. excessive "unpowered" devices often lead to random usb failures. switching to powered hubs or self-sufficient gadgets resolves the problem. however, too many unpowered items can overburden the motherboard usb hub.
