USB device fails after enabling WRITE CACHE in Windows 11.
Settings were being modified in Windows 11 and the write caching feature was activated for the USB drive. It seemed to be struggling due to low free space and a slow process. After a prolonged shutdown, the PC froze during boot and wouldn’t start normally. When unplugged, it worked fine. Once powered back on, the drive appeared in tray settings but wasn’t recognized in Explorer or Disk Manager. It showed up as "Remove Mass Storage" and didn’t respond properly. Disabling or enabling it didn’t help. There was no option to format it directly, so I considered a clean installation.
Consider testing with another USB drive on your system. If it functions properly, the issue likely lies with the problematic drive itself. During a forced shutdown, a crucial part of the USB device may have become damaged, preventing it from being written to or formatted. Your drive is now restricted and won't allow formatting or partitioning. If the information isn't critical, it's best to ignore it and disregard it.
