Recently my computer began acting erratically—screen shut down, GPU hit maximum fan speed—and when I tried to restart it, the fan would jump back up before I could access BIOS settings. This cycle repeated continuously. After some troubleshooting, I realized removing certain USB devices might have been the cause. I also discovered that disconnecting my microphone and headphones (along with the flight stick and throttle) resolved the problem. These were the devices I had taken out when I removed the M.2 slot. The issue seemed to happen intermittently, during games, while watching YouTube, or even upon first powering on after a day off. I wondered if all connected USB ports were drawing excessive power, especially since many ports are located at the back of the machine.
