It’s wise to match the power output with the device’s needs to ensure safe and efficient charging.

standard specifications are 5v 0.5A for USB 2.0 and 5v 0.9A for USB 3.0, yet most motherboards restrict around 2A for a pair of USB 3.0 connectors or up to 4 USB 2.0 ports. If only one USB port is connected, you’re likely to get up to 2A from it.
Motherboard USB ports aren't enough for today's smartphones. They usually handle up to 2A, which is around 10W, but newer phones need at least that much unless you disable them. On the front panel, I haven't seen any motherboards with unique charging connectors, because those ports don't manage the main end port (the case does).
I wasn't aware of that before! I pick up new information daily. So if I wanted to understand the details, I'd also need to check the specifications of the front panel IO on my case.
