Hi! I own an HP Victus laptop equipped with an AMD 7 6800H processor and an RTX 3050TI GPU. I've faced recurring problems with my USB C display. After switching docks, updating Windows, reinstalling drivers for AMD and NVIDIA, and even performing multiple fresh installs of Windows, I still can't resolve the issue. I've used a Lenovo ThinkPad dock with my HP laptop and previously had success with a generic Amazon USB-C dock, though it worked inconsistently. Now my system only shows two monitors in Display Settings, always displaying black. I've tried power cycling the monitors and the dock, but nothing changes. I can connect my monitor directly via HDMI on the laptop without issues. Recently, I noticed an additional problem: no audio devices are detected, whether output or input. Please let me know if you need any more details to help troubleshoot. Thank you! PC Details.pdf

Launch HP Support Assistant and confirm all updates are applied, including UEFI/BIOS. This should resolve your audio problem as well. Most USB-C docks require firmware updates for optimal performance—most do receive these. Also, verify that the Thinkpad dock’s firmware is current. I’m not certain this is the correct dock, so please double-check. There’s also a firmware update available for the SSK dock; make sure you’re using the right model. Let me know your progress.

Thank you for your feedback. It’s understandable to face some challenges with setup. I confirmed the BIOS update and verified the firmware on both docks, which are functioning correctly. I ran all driver updates and performed a fresh Windows install, and audio is working fine. However, I’m still experiencing issues with video and display.

I use the Lenovo Dock with my HP Elite Book 845, and it works without any problems. The latest update shows three monitors are detected in display settings, but when opening new windows they vanish from the screen list. They also appear as generic monitors in Device Manager. I tried removing the monitors and reconnecting the dock, which resolved the identification issue. Windows animates when connecting new monitors and appears in Device Manager and display settings again, yet no output is produced.

Appreciate your patience and support. Let me know if you need further assistance.

It seems you're asking about enabling features and understanding the Windows key shortcut. What are your thoughts on that? Also, can you tell me more about what you'd like to duplicate or extend?

Yea, I get the option to extend or duplicate and I can reorientate the screens just like normal. I can also drag windows to the "non" displaying screens. When I power on the monitor or change the input it just cycles. However, like I said I can easily just connect the Dock to my work laptop and the monitors are recognized. and cycle to their HDMI inputs.

Check if the USB-C connection you have includes a special symbol for display capability. These often feature a small icon to indicate they can show images or videos.

Well, it was a trial. If you have just one port, you don’t need to worry about it. Check the list of options here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-V...-p/6873768. Fixed: USB-C display stopped working after update – HP Support Community - 8079337. When everything was unplugged—including the power supply—hold the power button for at least 15 seconds (longer than expected). I’m not sure this will help, so if nothing works, reach out to HP Support. It seems like a hardware problem might be involved, and their response here suggests they’re aware of it. Be sure to mention what you tried beforehand. That could save time. Otherwise, there aren’t many other options left.
