USB 3.2 type C connection handling issues
System assembled with 'OVERCURRENT STATUS DETECTED' alert upon startup. Identified as USB C front header port. Updated BIOS, re-seated the device, and confirmed the issue is isolated to this port. Are you missing any other factors or is this a faulty motherboard?
USB components are fully attached to the chipset. It’s hard for me to imagine another explanation.
Did you forget to mention the exact setup? Were you connected it while plugged in or after removing it? Is the front panel connector faulty if it’s not working? If unplugged, look for any bent connectors on the socket. Check for loose screws or hidden components behind the motherboard.
The picture clearly shows it’s not connected. The real problem appears when I connect it and turn it on. I don’t know how to verify if the front panel connector is correct without using another USB-C port, since it looks fine visually but there are no bent pins or metal contacts.
It seems likely a minor issue occurs only when connected, suggesting a front-panel short.
I’m hoping I don’t have to replace the whole case and just swap out the wiring. The front I/O port seems fine. At least I don’t have a faulty motherboard, which is a big plus.
