Your setup either includes the cable and port, or it doesn’t. For a future purchase (not a current build), if you need type C on your case, ensure the motherboard has the corresponding header, and the purchased case should match (most modern ones do).

i made an error, i was considering standard type c, which is common in newer models. for gen 2x2, i mostly see msi cases with it. https://wccftech.com/msi-gaming-pc-cases...pe-c-port/ the main distinction seems to be that 2x2 can handle up to 20gbps across two lanes. https://www.onlogic.com/company/io-hub/u...explained/ if you don’t need that much speed, regular type c offers more case choices and should suffice for everyday users.
