I recently purchased a new PC case featuring a USB 3.1 Type C port. My motherboard lacks any internal USB 3.1 Type 2 (Key-A) connectors. Can I connect a Key-A adapter cable to the USB Type C port or use another solution? I’m hesitant about spending over $50 on a PCIe card. Also, would anyone recommend a more affordable option with a Type-C internal Key-A header for PCIe?

It might not be the most attractive choice and could cap your speed at 5Gb/s, but the Silverstone CP14 could be viable. https://www.silverstonetek.com/product.p...71&area=en You can exchange a USB 3.0 front panel header for your type C front panel with this adapter. At 25 USD it feels manageable, though still a significant cost for one adapter

Check it out here. (It's not cheap in the short term, but it won't add up to $50 on the card.)

Noted the earlier choice. I recently purchased an ASUS ROG Strix B450-E motherboard with just one USB 3.0 port, so I’d like to switch to a USB-C male to female cable that connects to a 3.1 port.
