Hi all,
Asrock x870e taichi lite
AMD Ryzen 9 9950x
2x48GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5
I have several USB-C drives that operate at full 3.1 speeds elsewhere, but they reach a limit of 44MB/s on this system.
What I've tried so far:
1) Updated to the latest UEFI BIOS (4.04).
2) Disconnected all other USB devices I could.
3) Reinstalled Windows.
4) Tested different USB-C ports.
5) Added AMD Chipset drivers from AMD.
6) Added chipset drivers from Asrock.

In the USB Device Tree Viewer I see:
USB Version : 2.1 (USB 3.x connected at HighSpeed - 480 Mbit/s)
Port maximum Speed : High-Speed (Companion Port 7-1 is handling SuperSpeed)
Device maximum Speed : SuperSpeedPlus 10 GBit/s
Device Connection Speed : High-Speed
Any suggestions?

I own several USB-C drives. It would be helpful to note their brands and models.
Do you have a link for the latest UEFI BIOS (version 4.04)?
After confirming you've updated to BIOS version 4.04, did you reset the CMOS?
I added chipset drivers from ASRock
The driver version listed on ASRock's site (as of writing):
https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X870E Taichi Lite/index.asp#Download
is an AMD chipset driver ver:7.09.23.2230
I installed AMD chipset drivers from AMD
The driver version on AMD's support page (as of writing):
https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads...x870e.html
is 7.11.26.2142. I prefer the one from AMD's support site.
Updated Windows. Are you using Windows 10 or 11?
Talking about it, if the OS was replaced after an assumed platform upgrade, did you reinstall it?
What is the make, model, and age of your PSU for this build?

Thanks for the reply!
USB devices tried:
Samsung T7 4TB
Samsung T7 Shield 4TB
Crucial X9 4TB
RAM kit: it's actually a 4x48 but stability isn't great with all four sticks, so I'm going with just the two

Yes, cleared CMOS!
Re: chipset driver - I have 7.11.26.2142 installed
I'm on Win 11. This is a fresh install. I built the machine last year and installed from a bootable USB.
PSU: CORSAIR HX1500i

An intriguing discovery:
Just linked a USB 3.1 device to a USB-A port and it works smoothly at 3.1 speeds, showing SuperSpeed in the USB Device Tree Viewer.
(WD Easystore drive)

I'm now reaching full speeds only with a Thunderbolt cable.
I'm not entirely sure what's going on—normally I can get 3.1 speeds on my MacBook using the Ugreen cables, but only with a Thunderbolt cable on my PC.
