I sold my PC, gaming rig, and monitor for $1,400 to start fresh. I’ve always aimed for higher than 1080p and now have the opportunity. I’ve been focused on getting the best CPU possible while gaming on this machine. I’m considering jumping to 1440p or even 4K and don’t know much about CPU choices at the moment. How much does the CPU really affect performance when you increase resolution? I’d like some advice since this is my first time upgrading in that way.

The Ryzen 3600 should perform well, while the 3300X would be similar for gaming. If you're focused on gaming, a 2060 or higher is recommended. Alternatively, consider the 5500 XT or better options. Nvidia or AMD?
