Urgent assistance required for Dolby Vision files.
Hi everyone, I've been struggling for a while trying to solve this issue. After several attempts, I realized I can't figure it out on my own. I have a couple of DV files I'm attempting to play using the 14" MBook Pro. My aim is to use Emby, but it hasn't worked so far. I tried QuickTime for troubleshooting, but it's not helping much. I have one profile 8 file that supports HDR10, and it plays fine in HDR mode, though I can't be sure. Profile 5 works properly after using Subler because it's not backward compatible, but when I try to stream it through Plex or Emby, it shows a strange green and purple color. The main objectives are: 1) play Profile 5 DV files through Emby, preferably better than Plex. I've reached out to the Emby community, but most people don't know much about DV. 2) Move the Profile 8 file to Profile 5. When I play the DV version on my CX OLED, it seems to automatically choose the better profile compared to the single tone map on the MacBook. The differences aren't visible visually, and the files look almost identical when played in Profile 5.
It seems you're facing challenges with Dolby Vision on your MacBook Pro when using QuickTime or Emby/ Plex. To view Dolby Vision properly, you'll need a device that can decode and show the content. This includes compatible TVs, monitors, and certain media players. Your MacBook Pro might lack the required hardware or software. Consider using a third-party player like VLC, MPV, or MPlayerX, which support Dolby Vision. Converting your profile isn't advised due to potential quality loss; stick to devices that handle the format directly. Let me know if you need further assistance.
