Hey there! Let's talk about what happened. Yesterday night, I was playing games on my PC until 2 a.m., then shut it down and went to sleep. When I woke up today, I had coffee and pressed the power button—only to see a black screen with no signal from the GPU. I recently bought an RX6800 from eBay to replace my old RX580. After installing it, I noticed some strange BIOS messages, but everything worked otherwise. I was stress-testing during a gaming session, and the card passed all tests—stable and good temperatures.

Today, opening the case revealed the VGA LED is on in the EZ debug panel. My PC runs MSI X370 Gaming Pro Ryen 1600 with an AMD cooler (2x 8GB Corsair DDR4 CL36 at 3200 MHz). I've tried many fixes: swapping to my old RX580, removing and reconnecting the GPU, changing PSU and PCI cables, clearing CMOS, swapping RAM, booting without the GPU, and even removing the CMOS battery. I’ve also tried a new motherboard or different power supply, but nothing worked.

It’s been expensive to take it to a repair shop, especially since I don’t have another board or PSU. Now I just got my new 5800X3D with extra 16GB RAM, but it won’t work at all. When I turn it on, everything spins—CPU, GPU, fans—but my keyboard and mouse don’t respond. My guess is the motherboard might be dead. Could it be the new GPU or PSU? Any advice would mean a lot! Thanks in advance!

For your peace of mind, make sure your monitor settings are correct. It might seem like a bad idea, but you can replace the motherboard if needed. If it doesn’t work, just bring it back.

The same issue persists with my old RX580, which was in my PC a while ago. Switching it to the RX6800 didn’t fix the problem, and even using the second PCIe slot hasn’t resolved it.

Inputs are functioning properly. I have two HDMI connections working well, but the bent DP is not usable at the moment.

No one around to lend it from here... Maybe it's time to buy a used one instead. I really wish it wasn't my "new" GPU that failed. The PC ran fine for days until this morning. I've been trying to fix it for six hours now—frustrating!

Perhaps my explanation got the message mixed up. My PC had an RX580 chip until recently. It ran perfectly. I updated the BIOS to get ready for the new X3D CPU, and everything worked just fine. After that, I swapped in the RX6800 when it arrived and removed the old RX580. The system booted up smoothly and ran Heaven 4.0 without any problems. Temperatures stayed within normal ranges. For a while, I played games and everything was stable. Then I turned it off and came back on. It was still working. Recently, I tried to fix things by swapping the RX6800 with my old RX580, hoping a different GPU would solve the issue. But that didn’t help. Now, even with the old RX580, I’m still facing problems—like the VGA light stays on and the PC won’t boot or show an image on the display. I think the main problem might be with the motherboard, especially the PCIe slots, but I’m not sure. I’m really puzzled about why I can’t connect my USB mouse or keyboard, even though the PC appears to be powered on and all fans are spinning (except the GPU, which usually doesn’t spin unless under stress).

Check if you own a multi-meter or a PSU tester (prices typically between $15 and $25 USD). If your power supply isn’t delivering sufficient power, consider testing it. Another approach is performing a clear CMOS reset. I’ve needed this before when installing a new processor.

PSU provides ample power for all needs, even more than a stronger setup. Seasonic model offers 650W continuous at 12V rail. Probably it's the new used GPU I got from eBay that caused issues or the motherboard failed unexpectedly. Still unsure.

You realized you connected your RAM to the incorrect port A1 instead of A2. Consider performing a BIOS reset, which worked for me after I believed I had damaged the motherboard.
