Welcome to the community! I'm new but have been around a while. You reached out for assistance, and I appreciate your patience. I'm trying to solve a problem for a friend who thinks his internet connection is terrible. After some checks, it seems the issue lies elsewhere. He has a 2.5GbE NIC connected to a local network with fiber, but when uploading to the internet, speeds drop drastically—only around 10-20Mbps. Other devices on the LAN can upload at full speed, yet his connection is so slow. I tested by swapping ports and using a different cable, but the problem persisted. I removed all middle equipment and connected directly to the router with a new CAT 6a cable. After installing an Aorus WiFi 6 AX200 card, speeds remained consistent across Wi-Fi bands. I also disabled VPNs and antivirus software to rule out interference. The issue isn’t with the router or switch, but possibly with Windows settings or network configurations. I’m not sure where to start looking for a fix. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
