Upgrading to a Ryzen 5 2400G model.
I'm using a system with 2400g RAM and a GTX 1060 with 3GB of memory. I haven't upgraded my CPU in at least four years. My goal is to upgrade to a modern processor for the next five years or more. I'm thinking about moving to a third-generation Ryzen but don't plan to play games much. I'd like a powerful machine for general use. I'm considering the 3700X but unsure if it's necessary. A 3600 would suffice? Virtual machines, coding, and occasional SQL work on projects might need more power. What scenarios require such performance?
Heard there are more 5600 models now. Might be cheaper than the 3600 at the moment. Price details are unclear. With that GPU, it doesn’t seem like a big benefit to switch from a Ryzen3 to a Ryzen2 version—third gen is still 1600, 2600, or 3600. Edited March 11, 2021 by Bombastinator
