Consider backing up your important files first, then replacing the older drive. This way you avoid issues and ensure data safety.

Plan to add the new drive, set up Windows there, and leave the old one as a backup. It should function properly. For best results, consider removing the old drive during installation to prevent errors.

You could simply duplicate your previous storage to the new one, start from the new drive, and wipe out the old one.

It’s simpler to reuse the existing SSD for booting and switch it to store games, movies, or photos instead.

I should have been more specific about my needs. Keeping the old Windows version dedicated to your older CPU might create compatibility problems with your new AMD processor, so yes, it could cause issues.

If the old windows is on a separate drive, there should be no problems. Windows only starts from one drive and doesn't detect the other.

The suggestion keeps the current drive and OS version, avoiding a newer replacement. It warns that changing architectures without updating drivers can cause problems. Using the correct chipset and additional drivers may work, but issues are likely. Simply swapping CPUs without adjustments is not advised.
