Your second laptop is already showing signs of strain. Adding more RAM won’t necessarily improve performance and could even cause instability, especially with the existing OEM 16GB Optane. The current setup is pushing its limits, and increasing RAM might not solve the underlying issues. Consider checking for software conflicts or hardware limitations before making changes.

The performance isn't slowing down; the delay comes from the lack of dual-channel support. Giving the laptop extra memory capacity above 4GB will make a big difference. All RAM will operate at 2133MHz, which should really improve things.

RAM and Optane serve very different purposes, which makes the comparison less important. Expect a noticeable slowdown, possibly around 5-10% in speed when using synthetic memory. The real concern is whether adding more RAM compensates for the performance reduction in your games. You'd need to experiment to find out.

You're already at 2133MHz, but dual channel just boosts performance. Are you looking for the 1TB HDD with the 16GB Optane drive? A basic SSD would also significantly speed things up during regular use.

You can also add a smaller SSD. That stick of Optane doesn’t really matter anyway.

It seems the 4GB RAM is 2666MHz, which matches the existing 8GB. You might want to upgrade and see if it improves performance.

You're wondering if upgrading to a 2666 MHz RAM with 4 GB will improve performance, especially since your current system already has 8 GB. It depends on your specific needs and workload. If you're running tasks that benefit from higher memory speeds, this could help. Otherwise, consider whether the upgrade is necessary or if other optimizations would be better.
