Hey everyone. I recently assembled a PC and decided to experiment with overclocking. I used a Ryzen 5 3600 B450M DS3H RTX 2070 Super with a Hyper 212 cooler, 500GB SSD, and a 750W 80+ Gold cooler. The base clock was set at 3.6GHz. After tuning the voltage and other parameters automatically, my system ran smoothly. My temperatures stayed low—around 57°C during Cinebench R20, which only reached a max of 70°C with base settings. I’ve heard mixed opinions online about pushing this model, especially with its VRAM, but so far it hasn’t shown any issues. Do you think it’s safe to keep it at 4.2GHz or should I revert to the base speed?

My recall improved with overclocking over time. It seems you achieved a solid result. Considering how it could have been enhanced further, the auto OC might have lowered the voltage from the default level, which many think is excessively high at launch. If it remains stable and temperatures are acceptable, there’s no need to adjust it myself. To check VRM temperature without a built-in sensor, a handheld laser meter could work—often available for rent at tool rental shops if you prefer not to purchase one.

I'm using a Ryzen 5 3600 running at 4.3GHz with 1.3V via Ryzen Master. So far, only stress tests with Cinebench and games like Borderlands 3 have been run, and it's never crashed. I've switched from an MSI B350 to an Asus Tuf Gaming X570, but everything has held up well.

I ran much more intense stress tests on my machine after overclocking it. A few hours of prime95 came up in the results, and it succeeded at 4.5ghz. However, during actual gameplay, it took several months to achieve real stability, so I eventually settled down to 4.0ghz.
