I’m reviewing some videos about CPU overclocking and idle temps. My setup uses a 3900X with a Thermaltake Floe Riing RGB 360 TT Premium Edition, paired with an ASUS Crosshair Hero motherboard. I have three additional fans, bringing the total to six. After lowering the voltage significantly, my idle temps dropped to around 60°C. However, when I run Cinebench, they spike up to 91°C. I’m aiming for a more stable 80°C and noticed the fans are running too hard for style reasons. Since I’m new to overclocking, I’m unsure if flipping the top three CPU cooler fans inward would help. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Voltage remains likely elevated. Third-gen Ryzen doesn’t really boost performance well initially, and gains are minimal. Fast RAM plus tweaking PBO settings in Ryzen Master is the best approach if you aim to overclock. These processors show quicker signs of wear when higher voltages are used—a fact I recently discovered. Previously, keeping voltages under 1.375V was thought safe for long-term use. This guideline comes from Intel and AMD CPU overclocking experiences, not specifically Ryzen. For lasting stability, avoid standard manual methods in BIOS and maintain voltage low (around 1.275V or less), adjusting PBO settings cautiously. Even then, you might only reach 100–300MHz at most. He mentioned the idle voltage from the 3900X could be dangerous. Consider whether to keep them or replace them with safer alternatives.

- CPU SOC Voltage – Manual Mode – VDDSOC 1.1000V
- 1.8V PLL Voltage – 1.8000V
- 1.05V SB Voltage

Can you lower your temps further? You’re using 1.25V and the R15 cap is 84°C on a 360mm AIO. After testing R20, it reached 88°C.
