GPU: GTX 1060 6 GB.
CPU: i5 7400.
PSU: Xigmatek 600 W.
RAM: Hyper X Fury 8 GB DDR4.
Case: Xigmatek.
Motherboard: Asus Strix B250G Gaming.
There seems to be a limitation between the CPU and GPU, given the CPU's 3 GHz with 4 cores and 4 threads.
Looking for affordable improvements to boost your frame rate. I’ve noticed my performance often drops below 60 FPS in most games. Any recommendations?

First I would increase the RAM, then add another 8GB so the total reaches 16. This amount is ideal for gaming right now and in the future. Yes, I would also upgrade the CPU. Your motherboard supports an i7 7700K, but I suggest avoiding the K version because you won’t be able to overclock it on the B250G chipset. I recommend getting an i7 7700 instead. For the graphics card, wait for the new RTX 30xx series cards. It’s better to choose a lower-tier RTX 30xx so it doesn’t create a bottleneck with the CPU. You can still use your 1060 6GB until you get the RTX 30xx card, as it will handle most games well. Also, consider getting an SSD if you haven’t already.
