I've been attempting to reduce my laptop's operating system from Windows 8.1 OEM to Windows 7, but it keeps freezing after the second restart. I've already changed it to Compatible mode, yet it still doesn't function properly. My device is a Toshiba L850D with Windows 8 installed originally.

Do you want to replace the operating system partition and set up 7 from scratch, or do you have an alternative approach in mind?

The OEM might embed some partitions that aren't visible, then build a GPT and install from the ground up.

I typically connect the drive to another system and perform a full reset using cmd.

Also verify that the drives are formatted with NTFS.

All around me, family members and friends rely on laptops, so I might consider getting a case for it.

No, I did not disable secure boot in the BIOS.
