I’m aware that the new Ryzen 4 models are launching soon. Worth upgrading or hold off for the Ryzen Pro: you don’t need a new Mobo or RAM. Pros: the new Ryzen 4 could be significantly faster than the 5800X3D. I’m currently running a 3900X on an Asrock Taichi X570 with an RTX 2070 (also planning a 4080 once it’s released).
Sure thing. Basically, those Ryzen 4 chips won’t outpace the 5800X3D in gaming performance, only for other workloads. The 3D-Vcache will likely be a RYZEN gaming CPU, while the others focus more on compute tasks. With the 8000 series, they probably aim for 6/8/12 core CPUs for gaming and 12/16 core CPUs for heavy computing, raising prices slightly. If you’re streaming at 1440p or 4K, it won’t make much difference, especially with a 2070. It really depends on what you’re playing.
Not relying on a 2070 model. I recently received a 3090 in my 3900x setup, and at 1440p I’m still pushing it in most games that don’t require simple graphics. Even when it reaches its peak, I’m well above 140fps and more. If you need better gaming performance, consider upgrading to a newer GPU. Your current CPU will likely keep up for years to come.
