Hi guys, I'm upgrading from a 3070 to a 5070 and I'm not sure how to connect it. I have a Corsair TX750M that's semi-modular. My current setup uses a 1 8pin cable that splits into two cables for my 3070. I think I might need an adapter, but I'm not sure if I should get another cable or just use the existing ones. I believe I'll need two 8pin cables connected to an adapter that then plugs into the 5070? Is it possible to just use the 1 8pin and plug both ends into the adapter without any issues? I really need some guidance and any links to the right cables would be super helpful.

Some 5070 models are expected to include a 2x8-pin to 12VHPWR adapter cable. However, it's best not to connect both 8-pin connectors using the same cable. One 8-pin cable supports up to 150 W, while the PCIe slot can provide an additional 75 W. If your PSU has two PCIe 8-pin outputs, connect each to a separate adapter cable—do not use the same cable for both connectors.

Be very cautious when using cables not included with your PSU. A non-compatible cable could damage your GPU. Only use cables from the official Corsair site after verifying compatibility with your PSU model through their support service.

What confuses me is that the cables have multiple heads up to three, and I'm wondering if I should just leave one head unplugged on the side. I built this PC a few years ago and it's really puzzling me. I've watched videos but they haven't helped much.

When several 8-pin inputs are connected together and their combined load is under 150 W, you can utilize the multiple connectors on one cable to power all devices. However, if the total draw exceeds 150 W, the setup won't function properly.

In this scenario, your GPU can reach up to 300 W during peak usage. A single 150 W cable plus the 75 W from the PCIe slot isn’t sufficient, even with multiple connectors. You must rely on just one connector and another cable, ensuring only one connector is plugged into the second GPU power input. This would result in a total of 375 W.
