You're considering the X870 motherboards, specifically the MSI MPG X870E or ASUS ROG Strix X870E. Since your setup is primarily for gaming, aim for a board with strong performance features.

In such situations, you can achieve similar gaming results using a standard Ryzen 7 7700(X) or 9700X. The 7800X3D offers better speed. The 9800X3D continues the trend of increased performance. For matching both gaming and productivity needs, consider the Ryzen 9 7950X or 9950X. To balance power and performance, the 7950X3D or 9950X3D are ideal choices. However, these options come at a significant cost.

I examined the 9950X and then checked the cost. Since about 5% of my PC usage isn’t gaming, there’s no need to buy it right now.

Running at 6000MT/s is straightforward with two sticks; adding four sticks makes it achievable now. More uniform production of motherboards is helping. I don’t know what the previous reference was.
