Upgrading discontinued RAM
Upgrading discontinued RAM
My rig includes a Patriot Viper 3 with 2x8GB DDR3 RAM at 2133MHz, MSI Z87-GD65 graphics card, Intel i7-4770K processor, Corsair AX860i MSI GTX 1070 ti, and a be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3. I’ve been using this setup for about six years now. Since I’m working from home, I’m looking to upgrade my RAM. I’m considering three main choices: matching speed, matching brand (same voltage), or matching timings (also same voltage). Performance improvements are less important than reliability and how long the components last. If you know of a better option, please share. I prefer not to replace everything and buy a 32GB package.
My usage is varied—animation work, drawing in Photoshop, compositing with ToonBoom/After Effects, and gaming (Battlefield, COD, RedDead, AssCreed). The system isn’t overclocked, so I’m not chasing extra frames for a game. A quick render in Photoshop should be smooth, but a laggy brush stroke in Photoshop would be frustrating. Thanks!
It seems like you're talking about performance on a platform. Just make sure any device matches the required speed and timing for smooth operation. Your 3770K handled it without trouble.
