So I am upgrading my PC, specifically I am upgrading my mobo, CPU, cooling system, ram, and, case. I am currently just waiting on the ram to finish the up upgrade. My big question is what will I have to do when transferring my HDD and SSD over. I have my windows key and the USB stick to install windows if I need to re-install it, will this work? I also looked at this site https://www.howtogeek.com/226510/how-to-...-hardware/ and it says I can use my Microsoft account to transfer it. Which way would be better and do they work. Also other than just getting windows transferred I want to know do I need to do anything special for the data on the HDD and SSD. For example, will I need to re-install my programs and games. I would really like any information you have thank you.

I recently moved my father's hard drives to a new setup. Most of the time it functions flawlessly and lets you resume where you stopped. Windows login now relies mainly on your Microsoft account, so if you're the admin and used that account before, the key will move through it. The drive transfer process works similarly, so there are no issues expected. Should something go wrong, I'm more than willing to assist. Just let me know.

EDIT: Your data will remain exactly as it was in the previous system.

To be sure, you should connect your Win10 USB stick and ensure your HDD and SSD are set up identically as before.

Connect the devices straight into the fresh computer as usual. Ensure the SSD is linked to a SATA III port for optimal speed. Avoid using the USB unless necessary; have it nearby just in case.

Thanks for the update. I'll keep an eye on things and let you know once I've done it.
