Hey there! For the upcoming holiday season I upgraded my setup to Intel 7th gen and AMD AM5. I need some guidance on Windows and storage plans. Here’s what I’m aiming to do: 1) Switch my Windows drive from a SATA SSD to an M.2 SSD, then use the old SATA SSD as a games drive. 2) Upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11. 3) Perform a clean install of Windows 11 since the current SATA SSD and its installation have been unstable across multiple systems and are causing issues. I won’t update and keep things running smoothly. 4) Move my Windows key from Windows 10 to Windows 11. 5) Keep all personal files on the SATA SSD. Current setup: 500GB SATA SSD (Windows & important files), 2TB SATA HDD for bulk storage, 500GB SATA HDD for media. Planned new layout: 1TB M.2 SSD (Windows & important files), 500GB SATA SSD (games), 2TB SATA HDD (bulk). I’ve found some advice suggesting it should work, but the instructions seem unclear and risky in command prompt. I prefer trusted sources and don’t want to risk data without proper steps. Also, I only have one PSU so I can’t boot both OSes at once—this would simplify things. If this isn’t the right thread, let me know and I’ll move it. Thanks for your support!

Create a fresh system using just a 1TB NVMe storage. Set up Windows on that drive, enter your Windows 10 product key. Link your existing SATA SSD to the setup. (Possibly need to boot into BIOS and make sure the 1TB NVMe is first boot device so you start in Windows 11). Launch Windows 11 and transfer any files you wish from the SSD. Format the SSD and add the remaining drives.
