Upgraded pc issue
Upgraded pc issue
Here I am once more. Always feeling unlucky with my upgrades 🥲.
Just switched my case, mobo, gpu and psu. It’s been a while waiting. Spent a lot of time today getting it working (first time mounting gpu vertically), managed to download some drivers, got the chipset and other Msi components, but it keeps crashing, stuttering and behaving oddly. Fresh Windows install. Every time I try to download the Nvidia app it freezes and crashes, managed to actually run Death Stranding for about 30 seconds.
What I’ve tried:
- turned off the amd display adaptor which just keeps showing up
- ran the repair tool but got nothing
- Windows updates are all current (though it still shows amd in the driver section, probably driver related)
- performed memory diagnostic, it crashed before I could restart
- temperatures are really good
- cpu, ram and previous PC still worked well despite being relatively new
- tried with and without expo mode
Old system:
Corsair Carbide Air 550
R7 7800x3d
Some cheap Gigabyte ITX mobo
Old Seasonic 750w psu
Corsair Vengeance 6000m/t 32gb
Rtx 3060
One m.2, 2 sata ssds, 2 hdds
New upgrades:
Rtx 4070 Ti Super (vertical)
ASUS ROG Rogues 850w platinum series
MSI X870 gaming plus WiFi
Ram is in A2 and B2
MSI GunNir 300p case
Still the same drives, kept data but reset windows via cloud download
If anyone has any advice on what might be causing this, that would be greatly appreciated 👍
if "vertical mounting GPU" refers to connecting the GPU through an extender cable, attempt installing it straight into the motherboard. Check if this adjustment enhances performance. The additional length on the digital bus may cause issues.
I was also considering it, though it seems unusual given the specific design of the case. It might be better to reach out to MSI.
