I changed my BIOS to a newer release than the one recommended for PCPartPicker (version 1803). After installing the new CPU, the power button didn’t respond. When I reinserted my older i7 CPU, the system booted normally. I wondered if I was missing the specific BIOS 1803 mentioned by PCPartPicker. I thought a newer BIOS version would work better.
The latest BIOS version should work. It’s unclear why it isn’t. The power button seems unresponsive. Possible issues include the CPU being dead with a ground short causing a protection trigger, or you may have missed turning on the PSU switch when using the 9900KF, though both scenarios are less likely.
. Will Newegg handle the return without any hassle? Someone might have a better idea. Probably not a problem with the CMOS battery, right? If I could reinstall the old one and it functioned properly, that’d be great. Edit: I also turned my PSU back on since the lights behind the motherboard came back on.
I really wish it’s not a dead CPU
