When finances are limited, a BIOS update followed by the 5600X will suffice for about two to three years. No extra power supply or RAM required—just install an RTX 3070 when prices become reasonable and that’s it. The 5600X performs adequately right out of the box without any manual tuning. Use Precision Boost in Ryzen Master and skip the rest.

The system operates at 3200MHz. The 2400MHz threshold applies to Athlon X4 and A-Series processors. Your setup could achieve 2933MHz on this board.

She claims her sister's system matches the same motherboard and works smoothly at 2933MT/s. I haven't pushed it beyond that speed since it only has a Ryzen 3 1200, but a newer CPU should handle 3000MT/s or more without issues.

The board backs 3200MHz, but memory performance hinges on manual timing tweaks and voltage settings, which largely depend on the specific stick. I've noticed sticks sometimes exceed their rated speeds using identical settings and just voltage control, though it seems mostly a matter of chance.

Checked the prices on Amazon and it seems you’ll need around £500, maybe more. Upgrading feels excessive right now because I’m still using a 1080Ti 5600 and it looks better than the 5600X. The extra cost for the non-X version would be about 20%. As for the differences between these models and a 5600G, let me know!

5600G includes its own GPU. I’d prefer the regular 5600 model instead of the 5600G. It fits better with your setup—AM4 board, 1080Ti, and everything else—and you can simply install the CPU without issues.

The 5600 will deliver a huge performance boost over the 1700. You can squeeze more power from your setup using a used 2060, RX 5700, 3060, or even a RX 6600. Adding super/TI/XT components will take it to the next level. A 5600 paired with a RX 6600 and 3200 RAM would form an extremely powerful system versus a 1700 and GTX 1080TI. The AM4 platform is reaching the end of its life, just like the 13th generation line. The final option is to choose a 13th generation machine—no further upgrades are possible.

Zen 2 performs poorly compared to Zen 3 and offers little savings. Avoid the 3700x model—opt for a 5600 at $129. The extra features don’t justify the cost; just purchase the 5600 and move on.

Appreciate the friendly visit from Ameribucks when we're in the UK—our rates are quite different.
