Confirm your plan clearly. Should you transition from W7 to W10 and then switch to an SSD, or upgrade directly from W7 to W10, format the drive, and reinstall W10 on SSD? Also, do you possess a W10 upgrade key or full version key—whether OEM or retail.

I prefer not to move anything. I intended to use the upgrade tool on Microsoft’s site to switch from Windows 7 to 10 on my HDD where the OS is installed. After that, I would reformat the drive, erase all data, and reinstall the new version on my SSD. My Windows 7 is an original equipment manufacturer product.

Regarding your W10 key, if you prefer not to retain your files, you can bypass the upgrade process. Just ensure the W10 key is a complete version and install it onto your SSD, then input the key when prompted during installation.
