Right now I have 16, but due to the apps I use, I’m down to 1 GB or less. Is that okay?

Sell the 2x8 kit and get a 2x16 kit. Much better idea than getting a different motherboard. As for fans, just get a fan hub.

Check your assumption—creating YouTube content isn’t necessarily RAM-heavy. Your graphics card being an 8700G likely handles most tasks smoothly.

It varies based on your task and the program, but generally yes—it usually does, and better detail requires more work.

They're right about this. Running four DDR5 sticks isn't confirmed to work yet. The safest choice is a fresh 2x16 setup, just as you were advised. You won't need to replace the motherboard. Consider saving for a dedicated GPU later this year or during a sale.

Content creation offers a wide range, from using a smartphone to capture and tweak with its native app to filming with a RED camera at 12k and refining it in Adobe or Resolve with extensive post-production. YouTube provides a broad spectrum in terms of video quality.

I understand you're writing late about this. You're considering a new motherboard due to ECC requirements, since your current one lacks it. You mentioned using Blender and other memory-heavy tasks, which is why people suggest ECC RAM. You recall your old PC had ECC and performed well, so you're curious if it still matters today. You also note your fans spin at a moderate speed, wondering if that's enough. Is ECC really worth it for your situation?

It doesn’t matter much. Neither the A620 nor B650 have ECC built in. This feature is typically used for servers handling critical data where losing a single bit could cause issues. It won’t impact video rendering. Your focus seems off. A fresh motherboard isn’t worth the investment—it won’t deliver the performance improvement you need. You haven’t mentioned the graphics card either.

You don't require additional fans unless you're experiencing overheating. Two fans usually provide the best results, along with the right case.
