I made several improvements to the system I built in 2019 - upgraded RAM from 16GB 3000MHz to 32GB 3200MHz, kept running at 3000MHz since Mobo didn't support it. Installed a Wraith Prism cooler after three years and added Deepcool's AK400. Switched to storage solutions: a 2TB HDD and two M.2 drives (Samsung 980 and Corsair 500GB). Upgraded the GPU to a Powercolor Red Devil RX 580 with an RTX 4060 Ti, which cost $250. Replaced all case fans. The only parts left unchanged were the CPU and Mobo. The problem with Mobo is its PCIe 3.0 interface, limiting GPU performance and slowing down the Samsung 980. RAM was running at 3000MHz instead of the original 3200MHz, and even after forcing it to 3000MHz manually, startup remained sluggish.

And what's the point with a 4060 Ti? Are we talking about a 980 or a 980 Pro? If it's just the standard 980, that's a Gen 3 storage and an upgrade won't help. Even a 980 Pro might not show any difference, though you'll likely notice it in tests. Wait until you're ready to boost the CPU at the same time. Changing the motherboard alone doesn't make much sense right now.

Thank you. If you switch to the AM5 system, your remaining components will function there. RAM type isn't strictly limited to DDR5 in this architecture.

AM5 supports only DDR5 technology, meaning you must upgrade your RAM at the same time

You're wondering if a new Windows installation might be the solution, or if your device is lagging during startup.

Gradually updating the RAM and adjusting the clock speed to 3000 MHz with 1.2 volts helped, but XMP isn't functioning properly. Restarting to the default settings makes it boot quickly, though it still takes over 10 seconds.

That's why I considered getting a B550 Mobo right away and storing everything there, but as Ronothan mentioned, it won't have much impact, so I'd rather save some money.

The RAM is configured for 1.2V to ensure stable operation under typical conditions. You might want to check XMP settings to verify if it matches around 1.35V for optimal performance.

Did you include an additional 16g for the total of 32g? If yes, were they identical in size? Consider lowering it slightly to 2933 and increasing the voltage. Try setting it to 1.3 when powered on—boot sounds unstable, and the RAM appears to have issues.

XMP activation isn't working. There seems to be a restriction preventing changes. I attempted to replicate the previous RAM configuration, but any mistake would cause a boot failure. I need to reset the BIOS by removing the motherboard battery. Consider setting it to 3000 MHz with a clock speed of 1.2, using an 8GB stick instead of 16GB.
