Hello everyone, I own a 1TB HDD from an old laptop filled with movies, music, games, etc. I’m transferring it to a new laptop that includes an SSD as the boot drive. My main concern is whether I can run games on the old HDD without formatting it. Should I copy everything over to an external format first and reinstall it, or is there another way? Since I already had a 750GB SSD in the new laptop, that worked fine, but now I want to expand storage and keep all my files intact. Is this possible without reformatting? Thanks for your help!

You're still able to use it, though I'd suggest reorganizing it to remove all the accumulated clutter.

Other than the games, I would reinstall them.

You didn't understand why it wouldn't work with the old HDD.

The games will finish at the end of the HDD. I’d split them into two partitions: 1e for games, the rest for anything else just to boost speed.

For all the feedback, I think they’ll likely improve eventually. I was just curious about whether the games would function properly.

For Steam/Origin titles, set up new file locations and check the cache or fix installations.
