I own an old Acer Aspire M desktop. Its Wi-Fi card isn’t working well, so I’ve switched to a USB dongle, but it’s not ideal anymore. I’m looking for a reliable PCIe Ethernet card that lets me run a long cable from my modern setup to the PC.

It depends on the setup. A Wi-Fi 6 router should still connect to it, even if you remove the built-in network card. Just make sure the device is compatible and has the necessary drivers installed.

For wired connections, use a Gigabit Ethernet adapter with an RJ45 port. Check Amazon for compatible options.

Certainly. If you needed a Wi-Fi upgrade, a USB dongle remains a solid choice.

PCIe cards offer superior performance compared to USB. They provide a stronger signal and are less likely to overheat.

You're welcome! I was hoping for a Wi-Fi 6 or a Gigabit RJ45 card, but I need to choose between the two. Which option do you prefer?

Wired Intel is usually the top choice, but any Gigabit card works fine if you're okay with a slight CPU slowdown. WiFi would also be a good option, with models like AX200 or AX210.

There are no suitable suggestions for that.
