Upgrade your laptop's Wi-Fi chip for better performance.
I recently had to exchange a laptop I had used for school for a long time. At that point, I relied on game streaming because I didn’t own a dedicated gaming machine. Now the device has been returned, and I’m returning to my very old personal computer which closely matches its specifications but differs in two aspects: it has only one memory slot and a Wi-Fi chip of type {b/g/n}. The gaming service I use, GeForce, performs significantly better on higher frequency bands. I wondered whether swapping the Wi-Fi chip to an AC model would provide that improvement or if the existing slot and standard would restrict the gains.
I own a Haswell laptop and have an AC chip, so the slot should work. The main concern is whether Dell includes these cards in their BIOS—this is something I can't confirm. If they are listed, you need to purchase one from the list; otherwise, any compatible Intel AC card will suffice.
