Hello. Your request involves upgrading your laptop's CPU to the Core 2 Extreme X9100. Let's check compatibility. Your current setup includes a Toshiba Satellite P305-S8915, an Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 chipset, and Intel GM45. The X9100 is a newer generation processor—confirm if your laptop supports it. If supported, proceed with caution and ensure proper installation guidelines are followed.

I’d think about purchasing a fresh laptop instead, as it would offer significantly improved performance and efficiency.

This laptop remains functional and sufficient for my needs. However, the CPU is quite basic.

It doesn’t make sense to purchase another device then. The upgrade should function, but I’d verify if there was a chance to get the Laptop with the X9100 from the factory or if others have made a similar change. It could be compatible physically, though I previously upgraded my ThinkPad T400 and the processor failed to appear.

It seems the latest BIOS wasn’t updated. A Russian user had a Core 2 Duo T9900 installed in P300-226. When I inquired, they confirmed it was possible, though you’d need to enable ThrottleStop for undervolting.

The X9100 operates at a higher voltage than the T6400. It's advisable to undervolt it for better efficiency, saving power and reducing heat. The T9900 seems more reliable overall, but ensure you obtain the PGA variant.
