I thought upgrading from an HDD to an SSD would be straightforward—just install a copy of Windows and switch it in—but it didn’t recognize the SSD, even after confirming #1 was set as boot priority on the HDD BIOS. I’m confused about what I might have missed or need. Maybe I need to transfer the drives to the SSD first, but I don’t know how to locate them. The laptop model is an Acer Aspire V5-473P-5602.

It seems you're suggesting a fresh installation of Windows on an SSD. That could be necessary depending on the situation.

I followed the steps I took, yet the laptop reports an error and states that nothing was found.

You need to set up Windows once you insert the drive.
