Hello! I discovered this outdated PC by a curious user and installed Linux Mint on it. It might not be valuable, but I’m curious to explore it further. I’d like to upgrade the Intel Celeron 430 to a dual-core processor, such as an Intel Core 2 Duo E6750. Do I need to consider anything else besides the LGA775 socket? If yes, what should I focus on? System details: Intel DG31PR motherboard, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 150GB HDD, 400W PSU, Intel Celeron 430. Thanks!

You can target nearly any Core 2 CPU with G31.

It wouldn't be unusual for it to accommodate a couple of core 2 quad CPUs such as the Q6600 and Q6700. One of those two might actually be a more suitable option compared to a core 2 duo setup.
