New here, so if this is in the wrong section, my apologies. I bought an Inspiron 3668 from an office for my son to use. This is meant to be an introductory PC to see how serious he is about getting into game design. He'll be mostly just messing around with Roblox and if he sticks with I'll build him a proper one. While I've built all my PCs for the last 10 or so years, this is new territory for me. I understand I won't be able to just plop a GPU and some RAM in it and call it day. From what I've found, I need a new PSU and probably an adapter so it'll work with this mother board, and some other things that are simply a bit out of my element. If someone can tell me what to buy that will work, I can do the upgrades, I just need some direction on what to actually get. I want to upgrade the PSU, GPU, and RAM. Any help would be awesome. Thanks!

You're unlikely to locate a PSU upgrade option.

I’ll keep checking when I arrive to verify, but a quick search on Google suggests it’s probably around 240 watts—definitely too much for a gtx1050. I really should upgrade it if that’s realistic.

I'm using an old Dell OptiPlex as my primary gaming setup, running Linux on the most powerful machine. Adding a GT1030 works seamlessly and fits perfectly. This model should handle Roblox effortlessly thanks to its low power consumption. Because it uses only 30 watts, it draws minimal energy from the PSU without overloading it, unlike full 75-watt chips which most PC builders find difficult to support via the PCIe slot. The GT1030 should be a solid fit for your configuration. Personally, I suggest going with a ZOTAC version, as I've had positive experiences. Just remember, avoid purchasing GDDR4 variants—they tend to perform poorly. If you decide to buy one, make sure it's a GHDR5 model to avoid wasted money due to NVIDIA's questionable pricing.

The system should manage additional memory if available, though performance depends on the processor's specifications. Some models have OEM-specific RAM configurations that can affect stability. The exact details of this Inspiron are not specified here.

Yeah, it should run games fine, and 8 is enough for roblox. This should perfectly be able to handle a 1030, so long as it has a usable pcie slot

Great! That seems like the plan you're going to take. Thanks!
